DPS is the permitting authority on many environmentally related construction projects.  DPS reviews/permits plans for Sediment Control and Stormwater Management as well as Well and Septic Review.

DPS also ensures that prior to issuance of any Building Permit that notification is made to the applicant by virtue of the Roadside Tree Law  and Affadavit that  a county or municipality may not issue a building permit to an applicant for any clearing, construction, or development that will result in the trimming, cutting, removal, or injury of a roadside tree until the applicant first obtains a permit from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources in accordance with Natural Resources Article Section 5-406(d).
