Roadside Tree Protection Law

Background Information

On July 23, 2013 the Montgomery County Council enacted the Roadside Trees Protection Law.  Since its effective date of March 1, 2014, DPS has steadily implemented new business processes and developed specifications, training tools, hired staff and outreach materials to help administer the law.  Affected activities range from simple driveway installations to large-scale roadway and streetscape improvements.  As a result, DPS interacts with a wide set of customers including homeowners, builders, engineers, land surveyors, architects, landscape architects, tree care professionals, and other county employees.
